The Magic of Jordano

Let me start off by saying, I consider myself a conisseur of Italian cuisine. I like cooking it and love eating it. So anytime we go to the fabulous Cafe Jordano in Lakewood, I am a happy girl. I don't mean happy like, "Wow, my hair looks nice" or "These jeans seem roomy today" kind of happy. We're talking, "I can't believe I just ran into my high school ex who broke my heart and is now fat, bald, married to a beotch and working as a sandwich artist at Subway" kind of happy. And Jordano even beats that kind of happy. To the point, Kendra...get to the point.

We had dinner there on Saturday night - "we" being me and some girlfriends - to celebrate my friend Molly's b-day. Only one other person had been there before but all had been hearing the hype from me for ages so off we went to enjoy dinner. The wait was over an hour so we put our names in and headed to my house(just down the street) for cocktails and apps. Once we came back and were seated, our waiter, Aaron greeted us. Aaron went to high school with me so I still sort of think of him as 15. My friends, on the other hand, thought he was hot. We all put our orders in and started our work on the bottle of Merlot we ordered. Before Molly had even opened one gift, our salads were out on the table. That's when the raves began. Sure, I know you're thinking, How good can a salad be? Real good. Their Italian dressing is perfection drizzled over fresh greens. Next up, the entrees. We each ordered something different and vowed to share with one another. The first bites were taken followed by a parade of ohhh's and ahhh's. I cannot emphasize how delicious their meals are. I've tried lots of things there but I'm a big fan of Pasta Barbaresca (Barb's Favorite). It's ziti in a cream sause with sausage. I'm not usually a fan of cream sauces but this is so light it's not like other cream sauses. The sausage is the best I've ever had in Denver as far as authentic Italian sausage goes. So we all sat around eating and passing to others and sharing like nice girls. The same cannot be said when the FIVE desserts we ordered were delivered. Actually, we only ordered 4 but then a sweet, older couple sent over a b-day dessert for Molly because they said it looked like we were having such fun. Gotta love Lakewood! So Aaron throws a candle in the chocolate tort that was drizzled with caramel and we sang and everyone dug in. It got pretty quiet at the table because those were some tasty desserts. But then people aren't rotating the desserts at quite the same pace. Next thing I know, Meghan is being accused of trying to finish off the tort. I'm too busy free-basing the tiramisu to really notice. Anyway, it was hilarious and we all agreed we will go back more often because it is just the best thing to happen to us in the way of restaurants in quite some time. We have a cooking club that meets once a month and we're thinking of turning it into a restaurant club that goes out once a month. Not that we don't love cooking, but damn it's nice to have a meal brought to you...especially when the food is as good as Jordano's and the waiter is as darling as Aaron.

I'm so jealous! I think I salivated when reading your blog about the yummy goodness of Jordano's. Makes me want to fly home tonight. And btw, for Kendra's friends reading...Aaron can't even drive yet, how can you consider him hot? He's only 15! (in my head)
