Five

For Ambular...

Ten years ago: I was dating and very much in love with the guy I was certain I was going to marry. I was an intern at Lucent Technologies. I still thought I was going to end up being the next Barbara Walters as I persued my journalism degree. I was facing the reality that my friend with cancer was probably not going to make it.

Five years ago: I was 7 months into my new job and loving it. I was helping Kristina plan her wedding. I had finally quit questioning my decision to leave law school. Every guy I met for a 6 month period was named Mike – Rugby Mike, Michael Blue Eyes, Boulder Mike, Mike from the Office, Mike from Rock Bottom…it was odd.

One year ago: Going to the John Mayer & Maroon 5 concert at Red Rocks. I was getting blocked calls on my cell at 3am. I was on a man embargo. I broke my toe by running into the couch. I started traveling much more for work.

Yesterday: I was teaching a course in New Jersey. I took a very scary cab ride to the airport. Then I got on ‘Boiling Points Airlines’ and had the most annoying 4 hour flight home. (There will be a post about that flight soon.) I got home and had popcorn and red wine for dinner because I haven’t been to the grocery store in a long time. I got a very sweet text message welcoming me home.

Today: I’m at work catching up on emails and phone calls. I dropped my bagel on the floor - cream cheese side down. I’ve had 2 conference calls and I have another 3 this afternoon. I'm getting my oil changed. I’m going to a going away party tonight for my old boss.

Tomorrow: I'll head to Starbucks for a chai latte. I have laundry to do. I’m taking Barley to the dog park at Chatfield and then heading to Colorado Springs with some friends.

Five snacks I enjoy: Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches, Salt & Vinegar chips, Wheat Thins and orange juice ( I swear, it’s really good!), green grapes & turkey pepperoni.

Five bands that I know the lyrics of MOST of their songs: The Samples, Dave Matthews, Barenaked Ladies, Jay-Z & John Mayer.

Five things I would do with $100,000,000: If I had a million dollars, I’d buy you some art (a Picasso or a Garfunkel). ***Told you I knew the words to BNL songs*** But since we’re talking about $100,000,000 I’d do the following: pay off all my debt, buy a huge, old house and then gut it and redo exactly how I’d like it(complete with a gourmet kitchen), take the fam on a long vacation, buy a Land Rover, set up college funds for my sisters and retirement funds for my parents, take all my friends to Australia to party and relax with me for a month, donate a huge chunk to the American Cancer society and Urban Peak and then set a bunch aside so I don’t become one of those fools who had $100,000,000 and then blew it all. (Totally not five things but I should get more than five. I mean, come on - it's $100,000,000!)

Five locations I’d like to run away to: Barcelona, Maui, Greece, Sydney & Tuscany.

Five bad habits I have: Being bossy, road rage, letting laundry pile up, cursing when leaving message on friend’s parents answering machine & being late often.

Five things I like doing: Cooking, dancing, traveling, getting a mani and a pedi, hosting dinner parties.

Five things I would never wear: Britney’s wedding attire, gold lame (it won't let me add the accent mark but it's la-may) anything, argyle, a Miracle Bra & shoulder pads.

Five TV shows I like: Extreme Makeover:Home Edition, Desperate Housewives, Sex and The City, CSI: NY & Grey’s Anatomy.

Five movies I like: Bull Durham, Shawshank Redemption, 50 First Dates, Out of Sight & Sixteen Candles.

Five famous people I’d like to meet: Theo Epstein, Josh Jackson, Oprah, JFK & Jimmy Fallon.

Five biggest joys at the moment: My upcoming b-day luau, my new Red Sox sweatshirt, Gavin DeGraw’s Chariot Stripped cd, the fact that no matter how crappy my day is, Barley is always thrilled to see me when I get home & the fact that I don’t have anymore business trips for a while.

Five favorite toys: my foot spa, my purple Coach, my laptop, my new pimped-out tent & my cookbook stand (I’m such a dork.)

It's stunning what I can get accomplished while on a conference call. :)

I watched Fever Pitch on the flight to Newark and kept thinking, "I bet he's like that in real life."
When we're in NYC in December, you must met us for drinks. I need to meet my East Coast counterpart!:)

Wow. Lots in common. As evidenced in our posts. I love manis and pedis and I think that after your horrible flight, you deserve one.

I too love my cookbook stand to a nearly unreasonable degree. And am currently eating grilled cheese because I too haven't been to the grocery store. Basically we like a lot of the same stuff. Is this a surprise? No. It is not.
