…but since I don’t, I’ll ask you guys. My birthday is coming up and every year I buy myself a gift. It’s usually nothing huge but a little something to celebrate. Don’t get me wrong, I always get lots of gifts from my wonderful friends and family but I’ve been doing this for so long, why stop now? Usually, it’s something that no one else would even know I want. So with that, I give you this year’s birthday wish:
Blue Moon Ghetto’s cd, Blue Moon Ghetto.
Blue Moon Ghetto was a band from Omaha that played at Creighton a few times while I was there. I loved them and wished they made more music before they broke up. My favorite song is “Shine All the Time” and I still find myself singing it sometimes.
I bought Blue Moon Ghetto at one of their shows and loved it. I listened to it all the time…until the big Flood Party of 1998. (Sidebar: Our house flooded my senior year of college. It was a huge, 100 year old, gorgeous home and during an ice storm, a pipe burst and flooded the main floor and basement. We lived in squalor for months while the contractors fixed our home. I lived with four other girls and we all had to share one small bathroom during the construction. It wasn’t pretty. Anyway, the weekend before our new floors and walls were going in, we decided to have a party. Evidently, there was nothing else going on in Omaha that weekend because the entire campus showed up to our party. I know for a fact we went through 5 kegs that night/next morning. We had people making snow angels in the back yard while it was 15 degrees outside. We had some guy pee on a chair in the basement. He later passed out in that same chair. The police showed up for a time. We didn’t have a ceiling in the living room and out of the exposed rafters flew a bat. He terrorized everyone for about 15 minutes until a few of the boys grabbed a tennis racquet, a baseball bat and a pillowcase. I’ll leave the rest up to the imagination. I woke up with a bottle of Peach Schnapps sitting next to my bed and a cute Sig Ep curled up next to me (Whoops!). Everyone had a fantastic time but the morning after was rough. It’s bad enough when you have to clean with a horrible hangover but when you discover that you don’t have music to clean to, well that just sucks. One of our partygoers evidently took it upon himself to make my cd collection a bit smaller. I suspect pee-boy. One of the M.I.A. cds was Blue Moon Ghetto.)
Seven years has passed since I lost that cd and in that time, I haven’t been able to find it again. Granted, I only think to look for it about once a year but this year, I’m determined to find it. So I’m asking for help from the loyal readers of Just Me, KC. I don’t expect anyone to buy it for me but if someone can track it down, I would be eternally grateful. I’ve already checked with amazon, ebay & craigs list.
My birthday is 12 days away so if anyone can find it before then, I would be the happiest birthday girl ever. Seriously people, it doesn’t take much to make me happy.

Who loves you, baby?

If not, you can get it from good ol' Tim Guthrie:

I know you love me! Second spin has their OTHER cd and I couldn't find anything on Tim's site other than some interesting art. Huh. What did I miss on his site?
Oh shoot. Will keep looking. Tim catalogued all his cds for posterity on the Internet.
No luck on their namesake album. Surely, SURELY one of your Omaha friends has a copy you can burn?
You might also check kazaa, although of course not at work.
B- Thanks for trying. I've already check with the Omaha crew and though everyone had a copy in college, we all seem to be without these days. Stupid drunken college experience...really took a toll on my cd collection. But damn it was fun... :)
All right, I don't know if I will find it, but you can be damn sure I will look for you.
First off, happy almost birthday!!!!!! Secondly, yes, I'm gonna search high and low for you. I'll keep you posted...
