Races and Railways

My friend Liz was riding in the MS150 bike race this weekend so Rosie, Shawn and I decided to head to Southern Colorado to support Liz. And by "support" I mean lounge at the hotel and visit the Royal Gorge while Liz spent two days peddling up some serious hills for 150 miles...in 100 degree weather.

Yesterday, as we were waiting for Liz to finish her race, we visited the Royal Gorge. I hadn't been there in about 15 years but it was pretty cool to see again. I also confirmed that I'm still terrified of heights. But I must say, as I stood on the world's highest suspension bridge (Yes, I'm the dork who read the pamphlet) I was pretty proud of myself for being out there. The bridge shook and swayed a lot but I managed to walk across it...twice. Go me! We also went on the Incline Railway which is basically a tin coffin that takes you 1,550 feet to the bottom of the Royal Gorge at a 45-degree angle. The pictures are below...
