Batches, Beaches & Bitches

It was like the Cooking United Nations in my kitchen last night.

Crate & Barrel
Williams Sonoma
Calphalon
Braun

All of the major players were there and they were ready to get down to business. I tied an apron around my waist (yes, I wear an apron when I bake) and pushed my sleeves up. I was ready to get down to business too.

Butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder, granulated sugar, and vanilla were all sitting in the mixing bowl. I turned the mixer on and looked for the eggs that were buried somewhere on my counter. I added the flour and used the spatula to get the good stuff off the side of the bowl. Once everything was mixed, I added the oatmeal and folded it all together.

The cookie sheets were on the counter and ready to do their thing. I opened a drawer and looked for the magic-oatmeal-cookie-making tool.

“Wait a minute, where’s my mellon baller?”

Barley looked up from the kitchen rug where he was napping. Clearly, he was of no help.

I tossed around some utensils until I found the baller. I’m ashamed to admit what happened next…

“I wish I was a little bit taller, I wish I was a baller…”

I was dancing in the apron…*sigh*
(Remind me of that the next time I wonder why I’m single.) Barley got up and walked out of the kitchen. I don't think he appreciates hip hop or my dancing, really.

The cookies baked while I watched Laguna. Twelve minutes later, the first batch was done and Kristin was ditching Talon at Prom. I poured a glass of milk and broke off a piece of cookie.

So.
Soooooo.
Good.

I turned on the fireplace, grabbed the chenille blanket and curled up on the couch. Jordan called at a commercial to verify that she had, in fact, seen Alex M. kissing Jason at Prom.

"Alex is such a beeeee-otch!"

“Uh, we may be too invested in this show.”

“Yeah, you might be right...but you’re still coming over next Monday to watch, right?”

“You bet your sweet ass I am.”

“Are you going to cook dinner for me again?”

“Well, I made oatmeal cookies for dinner tonight. Does that work?”

“Oatmeal cookies and Laguna? You bet your sweet ass it works.”

My Monday nights really do rule.

Jordan's not allowed to cuss, she's only 10.

Haha! That's so great. And better than my Monday night of homework.

B- you really don't want to know that Jordan just moved into a pimped out condo...because she's only 10.
C - I'll send you some oatmeal cookies and a tape with Laguna so you can watch once homeworks is over. :)

OMG - Laguna was soooo good. I can't believe Alex M. kissed Jason at prom! And who does Talan think he's kidding? He's so not over Kristen.

Ok, I thought I was the only one invested in the lives of a bunch of kids that I've never met. They sure are entertaining.

This post is freakin' hilarious Kendra!!! I love the line: Twelve minutes later, the first batch was done and Kristen was ditching Talon at Prom!! hahah! I too love Laguna and love, love, love oatmeal cookies!

The reason I like this post so much is that...it sounds just like something I would do!!
