KC's Day Off

One of my favorite things in the world: Taking a vacation day on a Friday to do nothing in particular.

It’s 8:59am and I’m curled up in bed watching the Today show. Barley is asleep on the floor despite his efforts to snuggle on the down comforter with me. I bought the new Williams-Sonoma holiday cookbook last night and I’ve been thumbing through it for a while, looking for recipes to try next week at Thanksgiving dinner. So far, today has been wonderful.

1. I have my day planned and it goes a little something like this:
2. Get a grande non-fat chai with a shot of espresso from my local Starbucks.
3. Take Barley for a walk at the park.
4. Take a big, fat bubble bath.
5. Meet my cousin for lunch.
6. Go shopping for Christmas presents as well as goodies for my NYC trip.
7. Go to the Tony’s (best gourmet market) and grocery store for turkey day preparations.
8. Pick up new baking dish and tablecloth at Crate and Barrel. Who will have the cutest Thanksgiving table? Me.
9. Get oil changed because I’m SOOOO overdue it’s a wonder my car still works.
10. Get a mani and pedi. I'm not gonna lie, I'm overdue on that too.
11. Get home in time to watch Oprah. What? I'm a chick.
12. Make a loaf of banana bread. There is really nothing better on a cold weekend.
13. Sift through the holiday catalogs that arrived yesterday.
14. Get ready for my friend’s birthday party tonight at a fabulous dive bar.
15. Try to avoid the car-bombs which were mandatory the last time we were at aforementioned dive bar. (My stomach actually just churned as I wrote about that shot. Blech)

So as soon as this post is done, I’m going to start my day off. I think Ferris would be very proud.
