Somebody's Got a Case of the Mondays...

I slid my arm out from underneath the covers to turn off the alarm. It was still pitch black outside and rather chilly in my room. I blinked a few times and saw the time on my clock – 4 a.m. It took three attempts to actually get the alarm to go off. I have it set in the most obnoxious fashion – alarm and radio. So it was buzzing loudly and playing Fergie’s “London Bridge” as my hand slammed down on the snooze button. I pulled my arm back under my down comforter and cursed my stupid job and the stupid 6 a.m. meeting I had to be at this stupid morning. I groaned out load when I remembered that not only did I have a 6 a.m. meeting today but also a 6 p.m. meeting today.

Good times.

Last Wednesday had been the same way. I walked into the building at 5:15 a.m. that morning and walked out around 8 p.m. And my guess is that I’ll be leaving today somewhere around 8 p.m. I must say, I’m not a fan of the fifteen hour work day.

The good news is that I managed to sneak away on Thursday for another long weekend. And while I’m not a fan of the 15 hour work day, I just love long weekends. I’m quite good at long weekends. You know why I’m good at long weekends? Because I didn’t have to get up at 4 a.m. once. Stupid 4 a.m.. Ok, I’m done with my tangent on the absurd hour at which I had to rise and friggin’ shine today.

On a happier note, it is officially autumn here in Denver. It’s been cold and rainy all day today and if you happen to catch the Broncos on Monday night football, and if the local weather forecasters are right, you will see snow. Snow on Monday night football is basically the wet dream of every exec at the ski resorts because people watch the game and see the snow and think to themselves, “Gee, Colorado is getting good snow this winter. I’d better schedule my ski trip immediately.” Seriously, ski resorts see a big surge in reservations when nationally televised games have snow.

And speaking of snow, after I got back to Denver last night, I had to venture into the deepest regions of the guestroom closet to dig out all of my winter clothes. I figured that since the weather is supposed to be cold and crummy most of the week I would get some things out on Sunday to be prepared. The bad news – one of my favorite sweaters had a gigantic snag in it and I couldn’t get it fixed. The good news - I pulled out a pair of wool slacks and found a twenty in the pocket. The great news – aforementioned wool slacks no longer fit as the literally fall off at the hips. Hooray! So I guess I’ll use that twenty towards a new pair of pants….either that or a new alarm clock.

4 a.m. should never be observed by humans. Only cats.

that was a very cute post and for some reason i couldn't help but shed a tear...not sure why. Maybe it's that time of the month or maybe it's just that another year has passed and I feel like i'm right back where I never started.

I miss you.

We need to talk. Soon.

Well it's always ok when there is good news to accompany the bad. Get some rest though, ok?
