The Party's Over

The week (ok, so several weeks) o' birthday is over. The presents have been opened, the flowers delivered (thanks B&M!), and the candles all blown out.

Yep, the party is over. But not before consuming a bit of vodka on Friday night. We'd all planned on going to the Rockies game but because every year seems to have extreme weather on my birthday, the clouds opened up and it poured for a few hours. So instead we went to dinner and then hit Delany's for a while. (Sidebar: Seriously, ever year it's something. Last year, it was one billion degrees and we all melted. The year before that, at the luau, it was so hot and dry that we couldn't light the tiki torches because of the fire danger. And the year before that it was 48 degrees outside the night of my party. And that party was outside. Good times.) My cousin was kind enough to drive me home and as we pulled up, my neighbors were out on their patio with some friends. They invited me over for a mojito and evidently pouring some rum over the vodka sounded like a good idea so I hung out with them for a while. I know it sounds like I drank a ton but I swear I've had a lot more on birthdays past. Despite that fact, I still found myself curled up on the couch Saturday watching Season 6 of Sex and the City while carb loading and drinking gallons of water. It took hours to kill the headache. The recovery time is getting longer and longer as I get older. Please tell me someone else has noticed this phenomenon as well.

The birthday celebration officially ended this evening with a family bbq. I won't admit the exact number of cupcakes consumed by me but let's just say there were several more on this tray when the night started. I will be hauling myself to the gym tomorrow morning and spending some serious time on the treadmill. But I don't care - those cupcakes were totally worth it.

Kelsey, Dad and Karlie

Both of my sisters are over 5'7" and I come in at an amazing 5'4". Life is so unfair.

And because I've done it every year, here's me at 31.
Why yes, that is a new camera! How nice of you to notice. I'm the proud new owner of a Nikon D40 and my love for it knows no limits. It's got a bunch of bells and whistles - few of which I know how to operate - but I'm getting into my photography class soon. And after my class? Well...prepare to be dazzled by my skills.

Dear Datelines "To Catch A Predator",
There is a guy named Thomas in Seattle who is prowling after my sisters -who are in HIGH SCHOOL - on line. Please have a cop disguised as a bush over to visit him.
Thanks,
KC
