I made it back from Cincy in one piece…no airport drama like my trip out there which was nice. Cincinnati reminded me of Omaha in a lot of ways. It’s a city on a river, had the mid-western gray haze that sets in during the winter, friendly people, and meat and potato restaurants everywhere. We went to the Montgomery Inn which is known for its’ ribs which were pretty good. The Montgomery Inn is the nation’s largest pork purveyor. Who knew? In fact, Cincinnati used to be known as Porkopolis. When I heard that, I tried very hard not to laugh out loud because I was certain that the ribs would have shot straight out of my nose. Porkopolis? I pictured a Greek pig.
In other Cincy news, should you ever travel to that fine city, I recommend staying at the Marriott Rivercenter - quite possibly, the finest hotel ever. Every single person working there was fantastically courteous and friendly. The hotel itself is gorgeous and when I mentioned that I’d never been to Cincinnati before, the front desk gave me a room on the river which was beautiful. I cannot say enough nice things about that hotel and the manager will be getting a glowing review from me as I think it’s important to recognize the good stuff. Also, I’m not certain if the Marriott upgraded the beds but good lord, I was one comfy girl. I crawled into bed the first night and spent 10 minutes just oohing and ahhing. I was happier than a pig in slop. Porkopolis, indeed!

I wish Denver had been known as something like Porkopolis...silveropolis? cowboytown? nuggetville?
SO many options.
