Weekend Update

I love long weekends and think they should be implemented from here on out. I'm such a happy person knowing that I have an extra day to do whatever the hell I want.

Quick weekend update:
Friday - went shopping for goodies to take camping. Set out with the intention of buying some snacks and a new sleeping bag. I ended up getting that stuff and also, a new tent (What? It was on sale and it matched my sleeping bag!), a lantern (Clearly, am an outdoor goddess), a new leash for Barley, & a cute sweater (not for camping but was too cute to resist). Hi, I'm KC and I have shopping A.D.D..
Saturday - met up with my partners in camping crime and headed south on I-25. I won't go into all the details but suffice it to say, the trip was saved because we had an Eagle scout with us. Camp counselor Tim is the best! Somewhere around 2am, I discovered I really should have bought that air mattress I was thinking about. I was like the Princess and the Frickin Pea. A little later I woke to the sound of someone vomiting not far from the tent. Then the howling began. Not really sure what it was but it scared the bejesus out of me. Even Barley woke up to growl a little. Oh look at that! Turns out I will go into all the details. Go figure.
Sunday - Woke up with the sun and the sound of the Mexican hymns that were coming from the church group that camped next to us. We cooked breakfast and had the tents down and packed all before 9am. We then headed to Garden of the Gods for a hike. It was hot and packed with tourists so by 1pm Hikefest 2005 was done.
Monday - Woke up and headed to the shower when I realized I didn't have to go to work. So Barley and I went for a run - why do I lie? Ok, so we walked briskly because my back was still killing me from sleeping on the big pile of boulders upon which we'd pitched the tent. Met my cousin for brunch and then treated myself to a mani and pedi. And because salon visits are always more fun with friends, I called Amber and had her join me. Later, I went to a bar-b-que and now I'm sitting in the living room catching up on emails. The dog is asleep with his head on my arm (typing is tough when your 70 lbs. dog believes he is a lap dog). I have the french doors to the patio open and I'm watching the fireworks near the foothills reflect on the lake...all while sipping some red wine. I had some white wine too. And some blueberry pie. I show my patriotism through copious amounts of alcohol and sweets. Life is rough.

Should probably head to bed soon. My long weekend is pretty much over...wish I could say the same for my backache.

Sounds like a great weekend except for the sleeping on boulders bit. And way to be patriotic with your food and drink. All-American!

Oh the camping. So much better in theory than in actuality. :)
