When Kendra's Wit Has The Day Off

As you all can tell, Kendra is a witty young lady. She doesn’t spend hours crafting her blog entries, it really does come naturally to her. I’ve been around for many of her snappy retorts, some of which originated in high school and we still quote to each other. But what happens when the wit is having a slow day? What about when she’s put on the spot by an authority figure? I couldn’t help but wonder…has Kendra’s wit ever backfired upon her best friend?

Kendra was running late to psychology class (again). She had the same teacher as I did, only 2 class periods earlier. When Ms. H. confronted her about her tardiness, she used her quick wit, lied, and said, “Sorry I’m late, I had to take Becki to go get a pregnancy test during lunch.” WHAT?!? I barely even had a boyfriend at that stage in life. So I unsuspectingly trot into class 2 hours later and Ms. H. pulls me aside with this serious/concerned face and asks me if I’m okay and tells me if I EVER need to talk confidentially, I can come to her any time. Okaaaaay…
Only later did I find out why she kept hovering over me with the pity face. Neat that she probably still thinks to this day that I aborted a baby. Thanks Kendra! Couldn’t tell her that you were late because you were getting an extra book out of your locker? Or maybe you had to go to the bathroom? Well, the positive side is the wit only fails once ever 10 years or so…and at least we have a funny story for me to guest blog about years later! Love ya Kennie! Keep up the good work.
