Has Anyone Seen My Red Stapler?

Remind me to never move offices again. In fact, if I ever mention moving offices again, please bitch-slap me. Hard.

All of my things are now in the new office but it's in no way organized due to the following reasons:
1) The movers forgot both my office chair and my lateral cabinet. I was sitting on an uncomfortable folding chair for two days and my files are strewn about in a haphazzard manner.
2) I.T. somehow forgot that I would be needing a private printer down here and never ordered one. I've since been given some old school monstrosity that resembles a Hummer. It sounds like a 747 when it's printing but it works so I'm not complaining.
3) My pictures and bulletin board have not yet been hung and are simply perched up against the wall until I can bribe someone to hang them.
4) I can't seem to determine how I'd like to set up my desk. It's u-shaped and decent size but if I put my computer in the corner it was meant to be in, then my back is to the door and that seems rude. If I put it in front, it's a bit messy.
5) My nameplate didn't arrive on time so I have a piece of paper on my door with my name - wait for it - written in highlighter. It was the only thing I could find on day one and since I thought it was only going to be up that afternoon, I wasn't going for aesthetics.
6) My mouse was lost in the move so I borrowed an old one we found in the store room. My laptop is brand new and it has a mouse attached to it that I'm pretty sure was an Atari joystick.
7) I had the keyboard tray removed from my desk because it's broken. For reasons that are not quite clear to me, our cleaning people refuse to take it with the trash. I've now tripped over it 3 times.
8) I've had back to back to back to back meetings since last Friday so I haven't really had time to get settled.

So, when you add all of these things up you're left with the fact that my office bears a startling resemblance to the set of Sanford & Son. Oh well.

I was at work yesterday from 7:30am to 7:30pm. The only reason I left then was because I realized that it was Monday night and HELLO, that's Laguna Beach night. I may have a new job, but I do have priorities.

I watched that movie yesterday and came to the conclusion that it is WAY BETTER to WATCH "Office Space" than to actually BE in my office space. Not that that's a startling revelation or anything.

Well at least you still have your priorities. Put a sign on the keyboard tray for the housekeeping people, maybe in highlighter!

Good luck getting it sorted out.

I agree with the back to the door being a problem. My old boss had a mirror over his computer so when people came in, though his back was to the door, he could see. It was creepy. I wouldn't recommend that.

Plus, people know if you're shopping for shoes right as they come into the office.

For a long time I had my back to the...well, cubicle entry point...so I would never see people coming. Only once in a while I'd recognize their presence. Most of the time, I'd shoot straight up in surprise when they tapped me on the shoulder or said my name. Fun! Point is, face the door. :)

It sounds like a mess! I love Laguna too. Although I don't think it's as good as last season.

Your priorities are the exact same as mine! I quit working last night for the same reason. :) That move sounds hellish! I wish you the best of luck in getting everything set up!!
